Everyone Plays A Part!
Thee SRYT Board of Trustees are committed to sustaining a diverse, inclusive, and equitable space where everyone who walks through our theater doors — patrons, artists, employees, volunteers, and vendors — feels valued and respected regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, education, or ability.
Walk the walk every day by caring for your own mental health, and helping others do the same. Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it. Reducing stigma is crucial for creating a more inclusive and supportive society that allows individuals to seek help, access appropriate treatment, and lead fulfilling lives.

Mission + Vision
Twenty-Nine years ago when I first founded the Saddle River Youth Theatre, we had 15 students. Today, we offer a safe place for our students to learn and grow, with over 200 cast families involved throughout the year and serving an audience of over 11,000, we offered 444 classes and 50 performances in 2023. Come see why the Bergen County Division of Cultural Affairs rates the Saddle River Youth Theatre as an, "Outstanding Theatre Program For Young People!"
Saddle River Youth Theatre is celebrating it's 29th Anniversary this year with a full season acting classes , broadway workshops and performance auditions in our historic theater and performance venue in Allendale.
SRYT, Inc. is a 501c3 not-for-profit art
organization since 1996.
Theatre allows children to tell stories about places and circumstances,
to create characters and
to become empathetic.
Students learn responsibility by having to practice lines and dance steps at home but then come to theatre to learn even more
socially important skills as:
"Taking Turns"
(whether in a game or time on stage)
"Accepting Positive Criticism"
(so they can grow and learn from their peers and mentors)
"Safely Exploring Their Emotions"
(by guided questions about characters and
conflict such as "What do you think your character is feeling?" "How would you resolve it?")
"Finding Time For Fun!"
(happiness breeds curiosity and imaginary play and play is an essential form of learning not only for young children but teens and adults, as well!)
Our professional staff is dedicated to offering both individual and personalized instruction in addition to teaching our students the rewards of teamwork and belonging.
