SPOTLIGHT ON…SRYT CAST MEMBER OF THE MONTH:
BROOKE WARD, Grade 9
This month, long-time SRYT Cast Member, Brooke Ward, was awarded
“Cast Member of The Month” from the Junior Company Board of
Directors for her great attitude and focus! I sat down with Brooke at rehearsal
for SRYT’s “Mean Girls” to learn more about her and her love of musical theatre acting.
Let’s get the difficult questions out of the way first---favorite color?
Blue. Any shade of blue.
How did you begin your love of acting? How did you get started at SRYT?
My sister’s friend got her involved and when I saw them in a production
of CATS I asked my parents if I could audition for the next show.
What was your favorite SRYT role/musical?
Galinda in WICKED.
What is your dream role?
Any of the women from the musical “Six”; maybe Jane Seymour because
she sings “Heart of Stone”.
What is your favorite musical or plays?
“The Play That Goes Wrong” which I saw in London. It is so funny!
Hey, Brooke, what are you listening to lately?
Definitely the “Mean Girls” soundtrack, “Six” and lots of 80’s music.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Do you think acting will be your
career?
Actually, I love math and science. I want to be a Dermatologist.
Why’s that?
Because I have beautiful skin! Just look at it! (laughs maniacally)
Last question, because you are playing Karen in “Mean Girls”—is one of your
Life goals to NOT touch a tiger?
Actually, I DO want to touch a tiger! Like in a zoo. If it’s knocked out.
You can see Brooke Ward in “Mean Girls” via streaming service coming this April!
